UCD90124A: Onboard Programming

Part Number: UCD90124A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD90124

Hello there,

I have a customer who would like to reprogram his UCD90124A but this IC has already been populated on his custom board. Seeing as he does not have the proper SW tools (he only has the Fusion GUI) to be able to program through JTAG, he would like to know if it would be possible to "hot-wire" leads to from his IC to the EVM to be able to program using the GUI. Do you feel as though this would work and/or would you have any other suggestions for how he should go about this this given the circumstances?

Any feedback you can provide is appreciated.

Happy Holidays!

  • Hi Amanda,

Does customer has I2C interface on his board? We suggest them use I2C to program their devices through PMBus with GUI. It is possible to "hot-wire" I2C interface from their IC.

And if they need to use JTAG interface, they need to vierfy whether their JTAG interface is enable:

  • You could use the EVM to jumper in the PMBus interface, assuming the address is different on your board or the UCD90124 device has been removed from the socket on the EVM.  It might be easier to acquire the standalone USB-to-GPIO adapter and jumper this to your board, the USB-to-GPIO adapter is a stand alone version of the same interface that is incorporated into the EVM board.
