UCD9081: Monitored rails being powered up before UCD9081 Vcc rail

Part Number: UCD9081

Hello,

We are planning to use the UCD9081 as a voltage monitor only (i.e. not as a sequencer). The rails will be monitored during system steady state operation only.

We plan on monitoring the system input voltage (12V). However, there will be a time during power up when the monitored 12V rail will apply some voltage at one of the MON pins while the IC is not supplied (couple of ms).

Is there any risk of voltage leakage or component damage with this implementation?

Thank you,

Cedrick

  • There is a ESD diode inside the device to proetect pins, if a voltage is applied on the pin before power on devices, the diode will be forward biased and a leakage may be observed. we do not recomend this, if such design is required, a resistors must be used to limit the current flow below 1mA.
