UCD9081 monitoring voltage

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD9081

Hi All,

i am using UCD9081 IC in my project to monitor and sequence different voltage. I have connected 4V at one of the monitoring pins whereas it is operating with 3.3V. I powered ON the board,UCD did not go bad but later i disabled the 4V regulator. can i enable the 4V and ignore it, so UCD chip does not go bad. please respond.

Thanks in advance.

Kirty

  • Did UCD9081 control the 4V power supply directly or it is just monitoring? What did you mean go bad? did you mean it detect fault and take some action? you can select ignore in the alarm processing so that device will do nothing when a fault is detected.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi yihe,

In one of the monitoring pins I am monitoring 4v. And I am not controlling it. In datasheet of UCD, the absolute maximum voltage to any pins is given vcc+0.3v, I am using 3.3v for vcc, it means maximum voltage should be 3.6v to any pins. I can ignore the 4v monitoring input, but my concern is about UCD going bad with the 4v.

    Thanks,

    Kirty

  • Anything beyond the maximum tolerance is not recommended since device is not qualifed for those conditions. you can add a external voltage divider to monitor 4V instead of directly connecting.
