UCD9090A: UCD9090A Re-sequence operation does not work

Hi,

I have a board with the UCD9090A sequencer that successfully sequence on and off the rails when I power the card on and off.

When I test a failure scenario that should sequence off the rails and sequence them back (re-sequence) the sequence off function ok but the device does not sequence on again.

I followed the instructions on "UCD90xxx Sequencer and System Health Controller PMBus Command Reference" document (slvu352f) section 10.25.2 "Re-Sequence" but still the re-sequence operation does not work.

I have 10 monitor supplies and a GPI that control the sequence on and off with the correct dependencies.

The setting of register MFR_SPECIFIC_44 "Miscellaneous Configuration Byte" is 0x88 which configures the sequencer to Resequence Continuously.

I can send any information that is necessary.

Hi Yossi
In order to re-sequence rails, all rails must be below power good off threshold. could you please confirm this?

Yes, I confirmed that all the rails are below power good.

I used the GUI to monitor the rails and the GPIs that control the sequence and I see that all the rails and the GPI are off.

BTW, the sequencer has its own supply that remains if the main 12V is not powered down so I can still monitor and access the device.

Hi Yihe,

Yossi didn't get an answer from you for almost a week.
Can you help?

Yossi can send the design file and you can load it in offline mode and review Yossi settings.
I think it is the easiest way.

Just checked the file, you have the resequence option enabled for rail 1(both UV and OV) and rail 10(UV only).

The fault shutdown slave of rail 1 is rail #8,#9 and #10, the fault shutdown slave of rail10 is rail #1,#2,#3,#4,#5,#6,#7,#8,#9,

if you have fault on rails other 1 and 10, there will be no resequence.

Please doulbe check your experiments and let me know exact what have been done for the test.

I fixed the settings and I still see the problem.

Attached is the updated XML setting file.

I caused a failure on any of the rails but the sequences-on of the re-sequence operation is still not working.

I would suggest you start with 2 rails with basic setting to simplify the test case(no sequencer on/off depedencies).

For example, in you latest configure file, for Rail #2,
you have Ril 8/9/10 set as fault shutdown slave, but in the sequen off dependecies you have rail 3 set. but rail3 is not a fault shutdown slave of rail #2, how can rail 2 be off? if rail #2 can not be off, the resequence will not start.

make a simple test and change little by little to test resequence funcion.
