UCD90120A: JTAG Programming

Searching we found post on this site basically stating that the  UDC9012A should not be programmed via JTAG.  Can you please verify this is in fact a true statement.  If so why has the datahseet not been updated to reflect this statement.

    JTAG is not envisioned as a primary method for programming since each ITC has own instruction sets for svf file which need lots of effor to tune.
    There are some older customers still using JTAG. But we recommend to use I2C/PMBus for any new projects.
