Q: TPS3820-33 source current by 788545

Hi,

my customer is actually using TPS3820-33 to support a TMS470 uC.
Due to sevaral reasons, they need to change to another derivative which has thus a higher internal pull down current of max. 185uA.

Unfortunately, TPS3820-33 is not able to support such high current from the datasheet.

Do we have a similar device with integrated watchdog and higher current capacbility? Also dual voltage reset would be ok.
Do you see a change to adapt this device to the changed requirements with minimum effort?

Thanks in advance,

Tobias

You didn't specify which TMS470 you are using but I check a couple of TMS470 datasheets for the reset specification.  The reset pin of the TMS470 is a bi-directional signal.  You must use a supervisor with an open collector or open drain output to avoid damaging parts.  The TPS3820 has a push pull output and will cause problems.  I recommend the TPS3828 instead.

The TMS470 data sheet specifies a pull down current of max. 185uA while the TPS3820-33 has a high level output current of 30uA at 0.8xVDD.

Does ot make sense or did I miss something?

I am not sure where you are getting the 185uA sink current specification.  Both the electrical characteristics table and Figure 5 show the current capability to exceed 1.2mA.  Please clarify or elaborate on your question.
