TPS2660: OVP,UVLO

Genius 4680 points
Part Number: TPS2660

Our customer consider to use TPS26600 at below condition.

VinVout:6V to 7V

Iout:1.0A +/-10%

Over current threshold:1.5A +/-10%

Please let us know UVLO and OVP.They don't need UVLO and OVP function.

We found below descrition about UVLO at datasheet P18

"If the Under-Voltage Lock-Out function is not needed, the UVLO terminal must be connected to the IN terminal."

Please let us know pin treatment when they don't use  OVP function.

  • Hi Kura-san,
Please connect OVP to RTN. This will set OVP at 33V which is out of operating voltage spec of 6V-7V.

    Thank you for your reply.

Could you please advise surrounding component value.

    CIN,R1,R2,R3,CdVdT,RFLTb,Cout,RILIM

They conider to use TPS26600 at below condition.

    Vin,Vout:6V to 7V

    V(OVP):8V

    V(UVLO):5V

    Iout:1.0A +/-10%

    Over Current Threshold:1.5A +/-10%

    IMON:Floating (Don't use)

When MCU detect FLT low,MCU SHDN this part.

  • Hi Kura,

    CIN = 1uF is recommended.

    For V(OVP) 8V and V(UVLO) 5V, choose standard 1% values R1 = 309K, R2 = 36.5K and R3 = 60.4K.

For over current threshold 1.5A, choose Rilim = 8K standard 1% resistor, though better accuracy resistor is good for Rilim.

Rimon 13.3K or can be left floating. RFLTb 100K to OUT.

SHDN pin has internal pullup. MCU can control SHDN with open drain output. MCU ouput V_OL has to be much less than 0.7V for SHDN operation.

CdVdT depends on Cout in the end application What is load TPS2660 driving? CdVdT decides the ramp rate of Output voltage.

What is the end equipment this socket goes into?

I can write an email to you seperately in very detail if you can share this info.

    Regards,
    Kari.

  • Hi Kura,

Also, you might want to place protection components at IN and OUT - refer to Figure 70 in datasheet.
TVS at VIN may not be needed in customer use condition ( Max VIN is 8V ), but schottky diode at ouput is needed to protect during OUT short circuit.

    Regards,
    Kari.
