TPS2660: Accuracy of Imon and UVP with Reverse polarity?

Part Number: TPS2660

Typical reverse polarity protection circuits for hot swap controllers involve an external diode from GND to RTN.  This shifts the GND of the IC and introduces errors to the levels of things UVP, OVP and current monitoring.

So does the accuracy of TPS2660x for OVP, UVLO, Current monitor listed in data sheet include the offset for the internal "diode"?  How do you compensate for the offset introduced by this function if so?

Thanks!

  • Hi Allen,
In TPS2660 input reverse polarity protection is internal to the device and it sits between RTN to GND pin of the device.
UVLO, OVP, IMON current monitoring, dVdT , current limiting ILIM, Mode pins are all referenced to RTN.
So there will not be a shift during normal operation.

    kari.
