Needs advises for a design of an e-fuse

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25940

Dear Team,

One of our customer needs advises for a design of an e-fuse.

You can see below the requirements of the customer regarding his needs.

============================================================

"The need is to design an e-fuse on a bus of 11V, (since I do not have the right to exceed the 66% rating, I am at 7.2V) that opens the mosfet at 1 or 2 amps.

The problem is that it is necessary to cascade two in series in case of one is broken down. And the difficulty is : it must be very low consumption "

============================================================

Could you please advise us a device or topology that can meet these requirements.

Thank you very much for your help,

Best regards,

  • Hi,

    Thanks for reaching out!
    If you need overload, short circuit protection, inrush current limit, undervotlage cutoff -I would suggest to look at TPS259260. If programmable over voltage protection is also needed, then TPS25940 is right fit.

    Can you please let me know the end equipment and use case to suggest best fit.

    Best Regards
    Rakesh
  • Hi Rakesh
    First, thanks for your feedback
    In fact the TPS25940 has an IQ of 200µA which too high for us we are looking for a solution about 1 or 2µA ...
    in addition i need to respect a clearance of 0,5mm on my PCB
    To be noted, i need only a current limiter since i am using a non rechargeable battery of 11Volts ...
    Looking forward to have your feedback
    best regards
  • Hi,

    Unfortunately, we do not have device which has an IQ of 1~2 µA and do current limiting function at 11V supply range.

    Best Regards,
    Rakesh
