TPS2660: TPS26602 - common RTN and GND

Part Number: TPS2660

I have a circuit that tied RTN and GND to a common net (not recommended in 10.4 of the datasheet, oops).  This part is working in the circuit as required because the Reverse Polarity protection is not needed.

Are there other issues with RTN and GND connected?

I'm working on an PCB update so I have a chance to correct this, the only downside is that the RTN pad will not have as good of a thermal path if I separate the RTN and GND nets.  I have the Mode Pin = open so the TPS26602 acts as a circuit breaker and not a limiter, so I suspect the thermal performance isn't an issue.

At this point I'm leaning toward keeping RTN and GND connected to minimize the change on a functioning PCBA.  Your recommendation will be appreciated.

Thanks,
