TPS2491: Switching 24-60V / 25A with CSD19506KTT

Part Number: TPS2491
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD19506KTT

Hi,

i would like to have a confirmation from profi. in this field. I'm developing a PCB which needs separate some loads from power supply. The power supply are Super-Capatitors (voltage variates 24-60V) and the current can go up to 25A. Relay can't be used, while the switching is happening every couple minutes in that case i tried to fined a suitable High End Switch, at the end no luck.

So the next move is to find suitable MOSFET driver and MOSFET for my PCB. My question is:

1) Can TPS2491 work with CSD19506KTT?

2) In TPS2491 calculator I came that I need to use 2x CSD19506KTT, to reduce disipation on MOSFETs (see attachment). How to make parallel connection?

3) Is there better solution?

Thank you.

  • Hi Adnan,

Welcome to E2E, I apologize for the late response. After taking a look at your calculator, your FET selection looks fine for this application. Just be careful to add Zener diodes at the input and output of the device to clamp the voltage during fault conditions.

We made a selection table for FETs at 24V. Please take a look if you think there's a better option.

Regarding parallel FETs, you can connect both FETs in parallel to reduce the current capability (splits 25A into both FETs)  and load capacitance during normal operation.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Arthur Huang
