Hi,

I intend to use TPS26600 to replace the Overvoltage Protection IC and reset IC as shown in the diagram below:

As one of the testing requirement in my application, the output of TPS26600 must be shorted to battery. In this case, the 5V output voltage will drop to Li-ion battery voltage (4.3V or less). Under this condition, I want TPS26600 to shut down

May I know if this device comes with some reset function or shut down when certain votlage threshold is met?

If yes, please advise how to do so?

    Hello,

    Yes TPS2660 can be shutdown when the 5V output is shorted to 4.3V Li-on battery by programming the current limit threshold correctly.

    When 5V is shorted to 4.3V, there will be a 0.7V drop across TPS2660 IN and OUT. TPS2660 has 150mohm of Rdson and 4.67A of current would flow.
    Fast trip comparator will turn off the IC during short circuit to 4.3V battery.

    Programming the current limt resistor to 1A or less will set the fast trip to 1.8A. For 1A current limit, choose ILIM resistor to 12Kohm.
    Using the TPS2660 in circuit breaker and latch off mode, will turn off the eFuse when 5V gets shorted to 4.3V battery.
