TPS25942A: About PGOOD comparator

Part Number: TPS25942A

Hi,

Customer is considering TPS25942A for hot swap.
Customer TPS25942A usage condition is :

0 : Master(Vin) < Slave(Vout) condition
1 : Set the master side to diode mode
2 : After 1, turn on the slave side

I got two questions about this usage.

Q1 : When the master side PGTH rises with the power supply voltage on the Slave side,
Does PGOOD on the master side work?
(When TPS25942A is used in Diode mode,Does the PGOOD comparator operate with the voltage of PGTH?)

Q2 : In this usage mode, the master side is in the Vin < Vout state.
Is there a problem with this condition?
Is there a protection circuit against reverse voltage?

Could you give me your advice?

Best Regards,
Yusuke/Japan Disty

  • Hi Yusuke-san,

Can you share the application use case and end equipment details.

A1) Yes, PGOOD becomes active when the device is enabled and when the voltage at the PGTH pin is above 0.99V.
PGOOD operates even in the Diode mode operation.

A2) Reverse current of 238mA (typ) should flow from Vout to Vin to establish reverse voltage cut-off for protection. Please refer section "9.3.5 Reverse Current Protection" in the datasheet for more information.

Please revert back if you have any followup questions.

    Best Regards,
