This question concerns phones that come equipped with Rx for wireless charging. I'd like to know if there is a way to estimate the amount of power attenuation when any materials (such as a phone plastic shell) are inserted between Rx and Tx elements in a wireless charging system. It would be good to know what the maximum supported range (i.e. distance) between Tx and Rx elements is for air and for plastic in between the elements.

WPC standard set the distance between the two coils to a max of 5mm.
Distance from Primary (TX) Coil to interface surface is 1.75mm to 2.5mm. Distance from Secondary (RX) Coil to interface surface is 0mm to 2.5mm.
Attenuation difference between air and plastic will not be that great. The effect of distance between the RX and TX coil will be much greater.
Also the system will self adjust power levels providing correct operation point and achieve desired output.
