BQ501XB - Reducing leakage

My application can't afford the 20 uA leakage of Batt when not on the charger. What are the implications putting a MOSFET between the charger and the battery while controlling it with RECT voltage ?

  • Mike,

    Sorry, I missed this post.

No issues that I am aware of with putting a MOSFET between the OUT of the Receiver and the battery.

I would suggest using possibly the CHG or WPG signal as control.  The issue is of course NFET versus PFET.  The concern with the RECT voltage as control is the high current delta between RECT and OUT gets smaller and I'd be concerned about pinching the MOSFET.

All things considered, the MOSFET would be better than a simple diode due to the drop across the diode.

    Regards,

    Dick
