PMOD and FOD tunning for BQ500414Q

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ500412

I am designing Wireless power charger transmitter using BQ500414Q. Can you help for following question

1) How to tune PMOD and FOD based on losses in between TX and RX.

2) We got EVM board (BQ500412) from TI. During testing, i tested Nexus 4 mobile it is not charging and red led is glowing. why it is not charging what is the problem (Nexus 5 mobile charging perfectly).

3) In my project PCB exist between Tx and Rx coil, it is acceptable or not.

  • Hi Raja

    1. How to tune PMOD and FOD based on losses in between TX and RX?
      1. For the initial test start with the EVM values
      2. PMOD setting probably should be OPEN, not used or set to a high value 1W.
      3. FOD calibration if done in house will require a $3,000 Test RX
      4. Procedure and software used for procedure will require NDA, contact local TI representative.
    2. We got EVM board (BQ500412) from TI. During testing, i tested Nexus 4 mobile it is not charging and red led is glowing. why it is not charging what is the problem (Nexus 5 mobile charging perfectly)?
      1. The Red LED is probably FOD fault. This can be confirmed by removing R35/R34/R33 then re-test.
      2. The bq500412 EVM has been WPC 1.1 certified and should work with WPC certified RX.
    3.  In my project PCB exist between Tx and Rx coil, it is acceptable or not?
      1. No—PCB between TX and RX Coil will cause problem.
      2. We have tested with a Comb Filter (PWR633) and provided it with the bq500414 EVM
