I'm going to use chips BQ 51050b and BQ500212A. How to choose values for C3 and Ros (for bq51050b)? 

Is it possible to provide power for a separate device (consumption up to 40 mA) and to charge battery simultaneously?

How to provide unit power from BQ500212A after the end of battery charge?

  • Can you specify which schematic are you looking at? I'm not sure C3 is which capacitor.

  • For C3, I suggest you start with the value in our EVM, which is one 0.1uF cap to filter out the high frequency noise and one 10uF cap to filter out low frequency noise. And then you can tune the cap based on the real performance of your system.

    Yes, you can connect a load in parallel with the battery and they can be supplied simultaneously given the input current limit is programmed appropriately.

  • I can not get the rated current (890 mA), the board is unstable. The charge current varies from 0 to 850 mA.

    There is a constant frequency adjustment.

  • Please send oscilloscope plots showing BAT, RECT and IBAT.

  • Are you using a resistive load or a battery for this test?  The bq51050B will not give consistent results without a battery or a battery emulator.  An emulator can be a source meter (setting the Voltage to the expected battery voltage and the current limit above the bq51050B limit).  Figure 3 in the bq51050B User Guide also shows a simple battery emulator using power resistors, diodes and a power supply.

    What transmitter are you using?

  • The transmitter uses BQ500212AEVM-550. The receiver use bq51050BEVM-764 (I use as a reference and test calculations), this board with the same face values works well. On my board made (figure), current changes 840 mA - 1s, 500ma- 1s, 100 ma- 1s, 0- 1s, 340 mA - 5s, 840 mA - 1s ......

  • If current set resistors to 250 mA, the board is stable. We want to obtain a current of more than 500 mA.
  • Were you able to find anything useful in the FAQ document sent with the last post?
    To be clear, the results on the bq51050B EVM are satisfactory, but your implementation is not stable. Is that correct?
    How did you choose the values for C1, C2 and C18?
    Try removing R42 (Ros in the datasheet) to determine if FOD is impacting the system.

  • In the document that you sent little useful information. The inductor is the same (different uH 0.2) as well as on the development board, so the capacitors should be the same. Ros removed but the problem has not changed
  • It can properly designed circuit. Measurement inductance (Ls) is carried on the ferrite substrate at a frequency of 100 kHz? Measurement of inductance (L's) is carried out in free space at a frequency of 1 MHz? What admits may have the circuit?

  • Ls is the free-air inductance.  Ls' is the inductance on the ferrite shield.  Both are measured at 100kHz.  The inductance can change based on its environment - how many metal objects are near (batteries, screws, cameras and more), what the shielding is and other factors.  The initial measurement with the ferrite shield is specified by the WPC.

    I do not understand the last question "What admits may have the circuit?"

  • What are the admission capacitors Cs and Cd?
  • Figure 33 in the bq51050B datasheet shows Cs as the series inductance between the coil and the AC1 pin. It sets the resonant frequency of the system to 100kHz. This matches the transmitter frequency so both have the same resonant frequency. Cd (AC1 to AC2) sets the secondary resonant frequency.

  • remeasure inductance inductance Ls=10.5uH, Ls'=15.7uH. Recalculate ratings capacitors (С1=161nF, C2=2.5nF), but the problem is not resolved, the device does not work consistently. I do not know already what to do.
  • C1 and C2 fall within the required range.  Specifically, what capacitor values are you using to get the 161nF?

    If possible, send me plots of the RECT voltage, the OUT voltage and the IOUT.

    What is your spacing between the RX and TX?

    Any physical layout of the PCB would be helpful as well.

    C1 and C2 capacitor consists of parallel elements(C1=47nF+47nF+47nF+20nF, C2=1nF+1nF+470pF). I tried to change the capacitors(C1,C2), but nothing has changed. The measurements were carried out when the coil lying in the middle of the debug board(bq500212aevm-550) and without clearance.
