Wireless Power Transmitters for BQ51050B

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51050B

Hi Team,

I am looking for a wireless power transmitter for BQ51050B. Is TIDA-00334 compatible?

Are there any other ready-made chargers in the market?

Thanks!

Regards,

Frederic

  • Frederic,

The bq50150B and TIDA-00334 are compatible.  I have run them together in our lab multiple times.

What do you mean by ready-made chargers?  Are you looking for Qi Transmitters?  There are many available online.

    Regards,

    Dick

  • Hi Dick,

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry for not stating my query properly. Yes, I meant Qi transmitters. I am confused because the BQ51050B is based on WPC v1.1.

But the transmitters that I found online don't mention that. They say its Universal Charger but no other specification. What about something like the Anker Wireless PowerPort? Are transmitters like those compatible with the BQ51050?

    My Requirements:

    To charge a 3.7V, 600mAh Li-Ion Battery @ 500mAh charging current and 50mAh termination current

    Thanks

    Regards,

    Frederic

  • Frederic,

The bq51050BEVM is WPC v1.1 certified.  WPC = Qi.

Most transmitters on the market follow the Qi protocol.  If it is certified, then it has gone trough rigorous testing to show that it will work with Qi-certified receivers.  Many systems are not Qi-certified although they market as "Qi-compatible".  I have used transmitters available in the market that are not Qi-certified and they work with the bq51050B.  I cannot guarantee that a non-certified system will work, but for the price they are listed, it is a good start.

I have not used the Anker system but expect it would work well with the bq51050B under the conditions you listed.
