BQ51050B behaviour inside a metal box

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51050B

Hello:

We are using BQ51050B inside a metal box.

This efficiency is quite poor, can someone tell me how to improve it?

thank you.

  • Antonio,

That's a very difficult question to answer.  What is the efficiency?  What transmitter is being used?  What is the z-distance (from the TX surface to the RX coil)?

Metal tends to impact the magnetic field and could certainly be a large factor here. What are the overall dimensions of the box and how it relates to the RX and TX coils?  Is this your design for the bq51050B or is it an EVM?

    Regards,

    Dick
