BQ51051B - Does CHG pin have to be pulled up to either RECT or BAT pins? Can it be floated or pulled up to other voltage rail on the board?

Hello TI E2E Community,

From the reference design and data sheet, the pin CHG is shown either pulled up to RECT or BAT. Does CHG pin have to be pulled up to either RECT or BAT pins? Can it be floated or pulled up to other voltage rail on the board?

I would like to have this pin pulled up to 1.8V, so that I don't have to use another voltage level translator to convert from RECT/BAT voltage level to 1.8V.

Thank you,

Howard

  • Howard,

CHG can be pulled to whatever voltage you'd like.  We use RECT or OUT to simplify the schematic.  If you're using it for an LED indicator, then, of course, you'd have to make sure whatever pull-up you have is capable of lighting the LED.  If you are using it with a GPIO, then your voltage level should take care of that.
