Hi, I am considering to buy bq501210 EVM.

I might be the first one asking about bq501210 since it came out lately.

According to the datasheet, bq501210 chip is compliant with WPC v1.2

And as far as I know, WPC v1.2 enables resonant mode.

1) If it is, Is bq501210 EVM possible to enter resonant mode? (What frequency?) transfer power to the receiver at 28mm separation from the transmitter?

2) Then, is bq501210 EVM possible to transfer power to the receiver at 28mm separation from the transmitter?

3) What kind of modification is required to the receiver side to enable resonant transfer?

JIhun,

The WPC v1.2 covers requirements for low power (5W) and medium power (15W) receivers and transmitters but does not include resonant power transfer. The bq501210 follows the standard 3mm-5mm spacing for power transfer.

The link you posted was from 2014 and the decision was made to not include the resonant power in v1.2.

Hi Dick,

I'an currently evaluating the BQ501210EVM, with a WPC 1.1 receiver because as JIhun, I was expecting that the distance between transmitter and receiver is increasing, even if the receiver is only a WPC 1.1.

My test result are not very good. The max distance is only few mm (8?).
For my tests, the receiver is an IDT P9025 eval board.

If I well understant, it is not possible with WPC1.2 (and the BQ501210) to increase this distance?
