bq51013B minimum load current

Hi,

is there a minimum load current for the bq51013 ?

I'm going to charge a li-po battery with 25 - 100mA.

Minimum load for the bq51050B is 500mA - too much for my li-po.

Tanks in advance.

  • Viggo,

There is no minimum current for the bq51003 wireless power receivers.

Look at the bq25100 or bq25120 for a very good charging solution for your LiPo battery.  They both offer very good control over low current charging and have very precise low current termination.

  • Dick,

my question was regarding the bq51013,

and your answer was for the bq51003.

pls what about the bq51013 ?

  • Viggo,

Same answer for the bq51013B.  There is no minimum load current for the bq51013B.

The bq51050B minimum load is set for accuracy limitations.  Setting the charge current below 500mA will still function, but over a large volume, the programmed current may have a wide variation.  For example, setting the charge current to 100mA could result in some units charging at 90mA and some at 110mA.  Possibly wider variation.

For clarity, the bq51013 and bq51013A also have no minimum load.  The bq51013 is an older device that is NRND.  The bq51013A meets the WPC v1.0 specification and the bq51013B meets the WPC v1.1 specification.

The bq51013B is the one you should use.
