BQ501210EVM-756: Wireless power transfer EVM does not work : D2 LED does not flashes but staying ON

Part Number: BQ501210EVM-756
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51025EVM-649, BQ51025

D2 green LED does not flashes but staying ON as the input power (12V) is connected.

Charging does not start. No response at all when I put any Rx on the coil. I can hear strange sound is generated from the board, maybe from the beep speaker.

(I use a BQ51025EVM-649 and a smartphone equipped with WPC v1.1 antenna module)

I found this malfunction this morning. Only yesterday there were no problems in power transfer.

In user's guide document, it is stated that D2 is ON during power transfer and during "fault conditions".

As the EVM does not transfer power to Rx, I assume that something is wrong but I cannot find what kind of fault happened to my EVM.

Does anybody have the same or similar problem with me?

Please give me advice about possible causes on this trouble.

Thank you.

  • A couple of things to check:
1.) Increase input voltage to 19V and test with the bq51025EVM-649
2.) Check for the short series of pulse at the TX coil at about a 500mS rate. Also should see 80mS duration pulses at a random rate (Digital Ping).
3.) Check the bq51025 V_RECT test point TP3 you should see the voltage increase above 2.7V (UVLO) during the Digital Ping.
4.) The RX should reply during this digital ping.
