BQ51050B: Not charging and TS-CTRL behavior

Part Number: BQ51050B

Hello,

I have a custom made application using a Qi-Receiver to charge my Li-Ion accu.

Some times I have a strange behavior on TS-CTRL the usual 24ms high 240ms low are gone and I will have 6ms high followed with 50ms low, 24ms high, 420ms low, repeat.

Charge is off.

Where does this behavior comes from and how can I start charging again?

Thanks for help!

  • Hi Heiko May
We can see in above photo that the TX power the RX during Digital Ping and RX will reply. V_RECT is at 4V then 40mS later the RX sends a packet, voltage increases to over 8V, this is the RX reply. But TX turns off after 80mS suggesting it did not decode the RX reply. Some type of communication problem.
Has the series resonant capacitors been tuned to your coil and design?
The values are same as EVM 68nF, 68nF and 47nF. See bq51050B data sheet 10.2.1.2.1 "Series and Parallel Resonant Capacitor Selection" for tuning procedure. The increase in V_RECT looks high suggesting that tuned is required.
