TMDSEVM6678: The best way to save large amount of data on a memory card for evaluation module

Hi,

I've just started to work with TI DSP cores and I have ordered TMDSEVM6678L Eval module. Beside the great capabilities of this EVAL board, I am interested in saving large amount of data (say greater than 4GB) with a reasonable speed. The simplest form that I am thinking right now is to use an eMMC or MMC and try to connect it to the main Eval board. I want to know if anyone have already done the same thing and is there any remedy for make this communication fast enough? Is there any example code for doing this + the file system stuff?

I would appreciate other suggestions and remedies.

Hi Masoud,

There is NO MMC interface on TMS320C6678 devcies, so there is no suitable interface to connect the eMMC or MMC to the TMDSEVM6678L devices.

Dear Yordan,

Thank you for your response.
Right now I am thinking about a side board. I want to use a simple ARM uController to send data to an eMMC using QSPI. but for transferring data from DSP processor to the ARM uController, I was thinking about TSIP interface. It is the first time that I'm working with TI DSPs and TSIP interface and everything from TI!!!! so I would appreciate if you help me by enlightening the way for realizing this idea (is this realizable at all?!!).

Hi Masoud,

Yes, this seems doable. See the RTOS documentation about TSIP:
software-dl.ti.com/.../Device_Drivers.html

There are also PCIe, SRIO or Ethernet as possible interconnects between TMS320C6678 EVM and another microcontroller. And if you use a custom TMS320C6678 EVM you can also explore the possibility to use usb as an interface between the two.
