CCS/TMS320C6678: GUI composer supported ?

Part Number: TMS320C6678

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

One of my customer would like to know if GUI Composer (v1 and v2) supports C6678 or not. I could not find the supported device list in the user guide and wiki.  Could you please suggest ?  And if it is supported, i would like to know the recommended CCS version to use GUI composer with C6678.

To me, this question sounds very rare...  actually I have never heard about such request.

Best Regards,
NK

  • Hi,

Could you please give me your comments ?

  • Nk,

The answer really depends on what you want to do. If you want to have GUI Composer read/write values using a JTAG debug probe then that is not supported on C6678. However if you are going to send data over a UART then that is really device independent and could be done on a C6678 with GUI Composer v2.

  • Hi John

    Thank you for your reply.

Here is from my customer`s response.
They have been validated GUI composer v1 to work with CCSv6.2 on C6678 (Jtag mode). As you know, GUI composer v1 is no longer supported on later version of CCSv6.2 and GUI composer v2 is now needed to work with the newer CCS, say v8.x.

They are now using CCSv6.2 + GUI composer combination for their evaluation on C6678 EVM. But as you know, it is better to move over to newer version of CCS before going to their actual development phase. In this case, does they have to abandon GUI composer environment ? Or, do you have any way to use GUI composer v1 with CCS v8.x ?

    NK
  • NK,

They would not be able to do GUI Composer v1 development in CCSv8 but I spoke with the development team and they should be able to use GUI Composer v1 Apps in CCSv8. i.e. if they needed to tweak their GUI Composer app they would need to flip back to 6.2 to make the changes.
