TDA3: EDMA in TDA3x is not working

Hi Sir,

When I use the same edma driver on TDA2xx it is working properly but for TDA3x it is not working. Actually using EDMA copying the data from external SDF to RAM. The base address for EDMA is 0x43300000 in TDA2xx where as in TDA3x also it is same as per the TRM, but when I use this address for TDA3x it is generating the exception.

Due to this it needs to be mapped somewhere else. So i want to know how to map this edma so that it will work properly.

Hi Sagar,

0x4330_0000 falls under IPU bit band space. You need to map AMMU (large page from 0x4000_0000 to 0x6000_0000) and use it via 0x6330_0000 address.

Now I have configured AMMU large page to 0x6330_0000 address. But still it is not copying the data from SDF to RAM. Could you please give a solution on this?

Can you refer to edma example from PDK CSL and analyze what is missing from your code.

Hi Rishabh,

Now I tried the same code with changing the destination address i.e 0x4080_0000 which is DSP1 L2 RAM and here it is successfully copied data from SDF. But my local variable are creating to 0x0033_999C such address. So is it not possible to copy to these local address? My SBL is running on cortex M4 core.

What can I do to happen it?

Hi Sagar,

This is OCMC which is mapped to 0x0030_0000 virtual address. In order to use EDMA you should use L3 physical address i.e. 0x4030_0000. The source address should be 0x4033_999C instead of 0x0033_999C.

If it is mapped to virtual address then is variable is created in OCMC RAM? Should I add 0x4000_0000 as offset while passing the address of local variable?

Thanks for your support. It is very helpful.

One more doubt I have on this. As Virtual address and physical address content are looking same but after copying, few location the data is different in virtual address than physical address. Why this is? Could you please explain?

Hi Sagar,

This seems like a cache issue. You need to use appropriate cache operations to maintain coherency.
If the EDMA problem is resolved, kindly mark "This resolved my issue" on appropriate post and close the thread.
You can start a new thread for cache issues.
