TMDSEVM6678: DDR3 Support List

Part Number: TMDSEVM6678

Hi  All,

I currently need the following configured Parts (F.W. is ready), who can share it with me, thank you.

               For example,SAMSUNG_K4B2G1646C-HCH9.

  • Andy,

What are you asking?  The DDR3 interface on the C6678 supports up to 8GB.  The most cost effective implementation now is to use eight 8Gb SDRAMs in the x8 configuration.  This is also the easiest to implement.  The table above does not suggest that configuration since it was not available when that document was published.  Also, the dual-rank implementations require more complicated initialization software.

  • Hi Tom,
Thank you for your instant reply. I may express the content for you to misunderstand. I need to go to the market to buy the pellets and return it. Which manufacturer's material number is already F.W. Have been tested, thank you.
  • Hi Tom
According to the above table, does it only need 4 PCS to configure 8G? This is my requirement, because our organization space is very small, whether you have the manufacturer's item number can provide me to design and purchase, because your help can easily shorten HW and FW design time course, thank you.
  • Andy,

The largest DDR3 SDRAM defined by JEDEC is 8Gb.  If you only can fit 4 SDRAMs on your board, then you are limited to 4GB of addressable memory.  If you use four 8Gb SDRAMs in an x16 configuration, this will provide optimum capacity and performance.  The EVM uses four 2Gb SDRAMs in an x16 devices so this will be a good layout reference.  If you must have 8GB of addressable memory, you will need to implement eight 8Gb SDRAMs in the x8 configuration as I stated previously.
