I downloaded the starterware software as the mitydsp-l138 board doesn't have any OS.

I imported the system_config and the uart in ccs.

But I'm not able to understand the steps given below, how to modify the start_boot() code which is there in system_config. whether i have to copy and paste the code given as the reference in ccs.

Modify startup.c in system_config and rebuild: The start_boot() method in the system_config library needs to be modified to force the interrupt vector table (IVT) back to 0xFFFF0000 (the default at reset). TI's UBL (used in loading up u-Boot) sets this to 0x00000000, for reasons unknown. The start boot method should look like this. A copy of the file is provided on this page for reference.

Could you give us a little detail on what your goal is at this point (e.g. to get the DSP running standalone v.s. getting the DSP and ARM both running). I noticed you have been pointed to our StarterWare Project which focuses on getting the DSP running without ARM intervention. However, if you are hoping to ultimately run the DSP as controlled by the ARM you may want to be looking at our Hello World DSP Guide: https://support.criticallink.com/redmine/projects/arm9-platforms/wiki/DSPARM_Hello_World_CCS_55. 

Please let me know your goal is at this point so we can make sure we are focusing on the getting the appropriate example code running.

The link you send is related to creating Linux Virtual Machine. I tried this procedure also and my issue was that my project doesn't have an ethernet port. I have UART and USB port. Below I have attached the image of my project. the Mitydsp-L138-FX-225-RC board I'm using doesn't have any OS on it. 

• Connect an Ethernet cable to the MityDSP-L138 / Industrial IO board. The Ethernet cable should be connected to a network visible to your host build machine, and there should be a DHCP server running on your network. Otherwise, static IP addresses will need to be configured for both your host PC and MityDSP-L138 module. so, i dropped the idea of using VM

• my project is to transmit and receive the 8-bit data using this mitydsp and the display of data on TeraTerm. so below i have attached all my doubts and errors.

1. I just want the code should be dumped on the board. And the received data that should be seen on Teraterm. I want any simple code carrying 8-bits of data should be stored in the registers and hence through uart port i can transmit and receive the data,  And to be able see on TERATERM.

2. StarterWare software I have downloaded and started doing according to the procedure mentioned. But following the steps from https://support.criticallink.com/redmine/projects/arm9-platforms/wiki/StarterWare

there are 52 errors when I build the project and I think this is related to the libraries because code is unable to take char, unsigned, etc. symbols.

Hi Karishma,

First, let's start with the errors you are getting when building the StarterWare project. These errors tend to indicate something is wrong with the project (e.g. pathing to build tools, libraries, etc.). Below are couple questions that might help you resolve this:

Next, I want to quickly touch on your board not having an Ethernet port, as this may become a bigger problem as you get further into development. You should technically be able to do everything you need sending data over serial using the Kermit protocol (See Section Flashing and Loading the Application from u-Boot in https://support.criticallink.com/redmine/projects/arm9-platforms/wiki/StarterWare for an example of this in the U-Boot environment). However, this is very slow and cumbersome. If you are planning a respin of your board in the future I would recommend adding an Ethernet port to ease development and programming of boards. You could also consider using another base board that has an Ethernet port for programming the L138 and then moving it to your hardware after it is programmed. Critical Link's L138 Industrial IO Development Kit is an example of a board that should be easily obtainable and allow you to do this.

2. In regards to StarterWare, what project are you building? Are you importing the system_config and uart projects or making your own? Can you get the system_config and uart projects to build before you make any modifications to them?

I'm have now started doing this above procedure. I am doing the raster LCDK example.

converted the boot.out file into boot.ais

But I'm not able perform this step

1. Using out2rprc, convert the rasterDisplay.out into rasterDisplay.bin

does I have to add any files, utility or does I have to enable or disable any application. 

Whenever I try to open the out2rprc.exe it just opens for a second and soon after it gets closed.

I am not familiar with out2rprc. However, according to Section "Using out2prc to Create the Application Binary" in http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/OMAPL138_StarterWare_Booting_And_Flashing it would seem this is a command line executable. You will  need to run it from a command prompt in Windows and specify your input and output filenames.

Hello sir,

I'm debugging the UART application c674x lcdkomapl138 successfully and after running the program.

I'm not able to use "StarterWare UART echo application\n\r" on the serial terminal.
