AM5728: Machine vision and motion control

Part Number: AM5728
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSIDK574

Now, our company use the AM5728 of TI, mainly machine vision, but we want to implement the function of motion control
and machine vision based on this platform. it is hoped that the engineers of TI can help to evaluate the project
plan and technical support: Is it feasible to implement the machine vision and motion control based on the AM5728?
When the AM5728 is used to realize the motion control, it is difficult to control the synchronous design of the
multi-axis motor. If AM5728 is not supported, can you recommend some other options? Thank you!

  • Hi,

Your query has been assigned to a TI engineer. Please note that feedback may be delayed due to holidays in the USA.

  • Hi,

Thanks for your interest in TI technology.

I would say that the AM572x/AM574x would be an excellent platform for machine vision and motion control. The DSPs can be excellent for motion control and the Cortex-A cores are great for running Linux and machine vision. There are even options within this family for doing machine learning, which may help either of these functions. There are also PRU and Cortex-M cores available that might be very beneficial for these applciations.

There is broad software support for all of these functions including Linux and RTOS for the different cores.

To get started, I would consider the AM574x IDK here:

Or, you might consider the Beagleboard AI that has great community support.

I hope this addresses your question. Thanks again for your interest.
