Part Number: TRF370417
i'm going through the baseband characterization of TRF370417 & was referring to the following document. May i know in better detail of measurement setup as per shown in Figure.1? Also are there measurement setup to calculate IP3 as Figure.1? I can’t seem to find the BBIP input for signal generator connection. Perhaps using a different model of equipment would be the case here?
Also are there S2P files to be shared so that measured values can be compared against it for consistency purposes? Thanks.
Please advise if you are referring to the following document:
you did not specify the document.
Please also advise specifically your need for detailed setup. I am not sure what exactly is missing in the setup. The spectrum analyzer itself can perform the gain flatness and also the IP3 calculation itself. We use R&S spectrum analyzer, and depending on the model type, there are different settings to get IP3 number. There are some app notes on both TI and R&S regarding IP3 measurements. There are also the traditional ways of using markers to take the IMD3 and convert it into IP3 number.
I do not see S2P files available. Perhaps you can specify the frequency range that you need and we can provide it for you.
We are glad that we were able to resolve this issue, and will now proceed to close this thread.

yes i'm referring to this document. Also referring to Figure.1 in specific. I'm trying to obtain the specific frequency range to look at & will respond again soon on this post. Thanks.

May i know in better detail of measurement setup as per shown in Figure.1?
RJH>> The set-up is just as depicted in Figure 1. Only one port is driven. This does not measure the overall modulator performance, but simply the BB normalized BW.
Also are there measurement setup to calculate IP3 as Figure.1?
RJH>> IP3 was not measured with that set-up; however, you could implement something similar by driving one port with two tones to measure intermodulation performance. Note, that since the modulator is not driven in quadrature, you cannot take a traditional IP3 measurement and calculation; the lower gain would give you an artificially low IP3 result. You can measure the relative IM delta and calculate an IP3 performance over BB offsets.
I can’t seem to find the BBIP input for signal generator connection. Perhaps using a different model of equipment would be the case here?
RJH>> The BBIP is one of the TRF3704 baseband inputs; it is not related to the test equipment.
Also are there S2P files to be shared so that measured values can be compared against it for consistency purposes?
RJH>> Because this is a frequency translation device there are no S21 S-parameter files.
In reply to RJ Hopper:
Thanks for the input above. Also with regards to the S2P file, is it possible to provide me a copy of file with frequency ranges from 50MHz to 12GHz?
No, there is no file available and no data extending past 6.5 GHz. --RJH
If that’s the case, can I get with bandwidth span from 50MHz to 6GHz? Appreciate your sharing on this. Thanks.
No, I don't have the raw files for anything. I was just pointing out that datasheet data was taken up to 6.5 GHz, not 12 GHz. --RJH
as per RJ's input below, does it means that we are unable to provide a S2P file to end customer so that they can make comparison to the inputs they have? Please advise. Thanks.
For the modulator, there was never any S2P files. There is an output impedance S22 type measurement as seen from this post:
