AFE7686: On AFE7686 RF Direct Sampling

Part Number: AFE7686

Hi Team,

Generally speaking, receivers have some related indicators, such as adjacent channel suppression, and in-band blocking. For superheterodyne, low-IF or zero-IF receivers, the signals in the RF band can be filtered by IF filters. But for direct RF sampling, how can we solve this problem? For example, AFE7686 is RF direct sampling. When it is used in 3G or 4G, how can we meet the technical indicators required by the specification?

Thanks.

  • Hi Annie,

The short answer is: the AFE7686 has the upconversion and downconversion all done in the digital (DUC and DDC). These quadrature mixing are close to 90 degree perfect phase offset and close to 0 DC offset, and therefore you will not have similar image and LO feedthrough problem.

For detail discussion, we will need to take this offline. Please contact your local sales support for direct support of the AFE7686. TI does not support AFE7686 directly on the E2E forum.
