How to disable the channel to save power for GC5016?

Hi,

In our DUC configuration, we only need two channels in GC5016.   How can we disable the entire channel to save power?? Maybe we can use the command 'Bypass', but it seems to be useful only to PFIR,CIC and NCO.

  • Hello,

There are limitations to turning off unused channels in the GC5016 for a DUC:

    a) If the DUC Baseband input is TDM on portA, then the channel power down can't be used.

    b) in the DUC output summing section, you need to select 2 signals to sum.

Given that you use DUC channels A and B, with interleaved IQ baseband input, and only select A and B channels to sum to the A or AB output.  You can try the following, by adding lines to the END of your configuration file.

Write to address 0, 0x5800, this should power down C and D FIR, CIC, and Mixer.

    Regards,

    Radio Joe

  • Hello,

Thanks for the answer! I understand the main idea of the menthod. But I'm still not clear about the limitation b). For our configuration with parallel IQ baseband input, and full rate--real--no sum output, is it not suit for the situation you described?
