What is the CC2530 chip practical communication rate?
Are you do the experiment of Communication Rate ?
The book of "Zigbee Wireless NetWorking" said:"Zigbee through-put is typically 25 kilobits per second." (page 14),is it right? why?
My English is very poor ,Please forgive me! Thank you !
Waiting for yours feedback!
The raw data rate at the physical level is 250 kbps. But there are many things limiting what the actual throughput will be. The cc2530 has a maximum packet length of 128 bytes, and for every packet there is a overhead associated (synth calibration, preamble, start of frame delimiter, crc, header etc).
Using only low level cc2530 RF capabilities the data rate in one direction could be pressed above 200 kbps I would think.
However the protocol (802.15.4 and zigbee) adds traffic, reducing the bandwidth available for data throughput. There is acknowledge packet sent back for most data packets. There is adressing and various other additional information sent over the air as well. So all in all the available bandwidth is reduced significantly from the raw physical bit rate over the air.
The number in your book is probably based on some empirical data, and probably is in the right ball park.
Hope this answered some of your questions
First，thank you for your reply!
I know that the raw data rate of CC2530 (zigbee) is less than 200 kbps from you answer. But I want to know the the data rate ,not the reason that less than 200kbps,
could you tell me the data rate of CC2530(zigbee)? Did you or your company do the experiments of data rate? The last question,if I use the star network , the data rate Can reach a number?
Thank you , Waiting for yours feedback!!
