Small doubt about Design #5 in the Antenna DK :)

Hi all,

this is the design #5 in the antenna DK.

This is what I measure when I connect this design #5 to my VNA.

I have designed a 868 MHz antenna and I think it may fit my needs but I suspect it could work better. However, it consists of a single-sided trace instead of a double-sided trace as the design #5, where the two traces are put together with vias. This is the performance of my antenna.

So my questions are simple:

  1. When would be recommended to use double-side as the TI design? Should I do it? I do not think so but what is your opinion? Is the purpose of double-side to have more antenna volume so more efficiency?
  2. What is your opinion about my measurements? Aren't these too spiky? Would you expect different values for the TI design? Should I re-calibrate?
