Miniature Helix Antenna (CC11XL EM)

Hello All,

            I was considering a miniature PCB antenna -- I found the (http://www.ti.com/lit/an/swra416/swra416.pdf

  • I faced some formatting errors and the previous question did not go in full.
I wanted to ask about performance of this antenna. The DN mentions maximum EIRP as 2dBm, can this be used with the 12dBm output ? What performance to expect from this antenna.

    Please advice,
    Thanks,
    Akshay
  • the design note shows gain as 2.33dBi, with measurement @ 868MHz occurring with 0dBm power out, following the EIRP formula and assuming no loss in the circuit because it is directly connected, the value of 2.33dBm is given for EIRP (when operating at 0dBm out, at 868MHz). (reason i bring this up is that i don't see a max indicated here, i just see characterization measurement being presented for reference. You want to know the maximum output power this antenna will support and i think the question is also perhaps better phrased as to include the frequency band you will operate in with regards to its performance, so you get data that is meaningful to you - agree?

  • Thanks Josh, I agree and the question was not fully phrased. The frequency of interest is at 868MHz.

  • It's no limitation from the antenna side regarding the output power.
  • Thanks TER. One more question -- the dimension in the gerber is 10.2mm and the pdf shows 12mm. Should we refer the gerber or the DN038 pdf dimensions.
