TRF37D73 - RF Choke Coil

Guru 20090 points

Hello,

In the following application note, recommended RF choke coil is 680nH in the 50MHz to 400MHz band.
http://www.tij.co.jp/jp/lit/ug/tidu607/tidu607.pdf

(1) Using 100nH for 250MHz band
If we use this device for 250MHz band and we use 100nH RF choke coil,  what parameter will be decreased?
Please let me know the impact of it.

(2)EVM 100nH
In the User's guide, -6-3HP-F10XJLU is mounted as RF choke coil.
Is this part name correct? I couldn't found the device information...
May I have the datasheet or correct part number?

Best Regards,
Ryuji Asaka

  • Ryuji:

The correct part number should be: Coilcraft 0603HP-F10XJLU for the 100 nH device.

As you approach lower frequencies, the 100 nH RF choke does not look like a very good choke anymore.  You will see gain increasingly drop and correspondingly, the NF and linearity will degrade as well.  If you increase the value of the choke inductor as was done in the app report, then the gain performance is preserved.
