TRF372017: TRF372017

Part Number: TRF372017

Hello all,

I'm measuring a 30 dBm loss on the RF output at 473 MHz.  Possible problems: over heated while soldering,  1uf diff pair caps measure 0.8uf.

Has anyone experienced this type of RF loss ?

Surprisingly, the ATSC modulated signal  applied to the TRF372017 does transmit video.

Cheers

John

  • Hey John,

Although it is possible that overheating is the root of the problem, there are a few items that should also be checked. One is that this may be a cause of a solder problem. Verify that the power pad is soldered well and to ensure that no pin is left open. Measure the voltages and verify the proper voltage on each power pin.
Another would be to verify that readback mode (along with basic spi functionality) is working. This is discussed in section "7.5.1.2 Readback Mode" in the datasheet.
Lastly veirfy that the LO output is both locked and at the expected power level.

    Regards,
    Oscar
  • Hi Oscar,

    Thank you for your input.

Turns out it was a soldering issue. The new chip is outputting as expecting and working well.

    Regards,

    John
