TIDA-00078: DAC5672 Output Not Responding 1-1 relative to RF Input Level

Part Number: TIDA-00078

Hello:

I am setting up the EVM, per section 4.2 of quick start guide.

The ADC and FPGA GUIs appear to have effect on the EVM, and all the LEDs that are supposed to turn on are on.

I am looking at the DAC output on spectrum analyzer, just like the quick start guide recommends. When I changed the RF input level from my source, the DAC output at 30.72MHz does not change 1-1 relative to the RF input level. I am expecting that if I change the RF input level by -1dB, the DAC output will change relatively by -1dB also. Likewise if I change the RF input by +5dB, I expect the DAC output to go up +5dB relatively. I.e. I am expecting a linear system response from the EVM. For example, when I change the RF input by -3dB (going from -15dBm to -18dBm) , my DAC RF output will change by -10dB (going from -21dBm to -31dBm).

My EVM setup is as follows:

LO power 0dBm, 2150MHz

RF power -15dBm, 2153MHz
