FDC2212: Sensor configuration and shielding for non-conductive particle sensing

Which of the following configurations will work best at detecting non-conductive particles while also providing shielding from external interference? Is there a better configuration than either of these three for this application?

Hi Gino,

Active shielding can maintain the sensitivity of the sensor. Grounding shielding is easier to implement, but usually reduces sensitivity.

Is active shielding effective with the differential configuration as shown in the last of the three circuit diagrams in my original post?

Hi Gino,

The two inputs are out of phase. If you use active shielding, the two sensors will need separate shields.
