Hi team,

The customer would like to use a hall sensor to detect the position of the rotor for his motor. His motor is the linear motor.

Do we have the suitable hall sensor and the reference design for his application?

Hello Mickey,

The DRV5053 can be used to do angular position sensing. The TI Design TIDA-00642 can be used as a reference to learn how this is done.

I do not believe we have a TI design specific to your application, however we have many TI designs for Hall sensors that can be found at https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensor/hall-effect-sensors/f/966/t/355909 which can be adapted to your application. If you are specifically looking for TI designs for the linear Hall sensor (DRV5053), those can be found at http://www.ti.com/product/DRV5053/toolssoftware.

When you say you want to detect the position of the rotor, do you mean the exact angular position, or are you only interested in determining if the rotor is at one of a few specific positions (for example, having Hall switch sensors every 90 degrees)?
