Request for equivalent suggestion against ACS770KCB-150B-PFF-T

Dear All,

one of my customer using ACS770KCB-150B-PFF-T from ALEGGRO - do we have any equivalent suggestion against same or can we suggest with combination of instrumentation amplifier and shunt resistor to solve the purpose?

Rgds,

Aravind.

  • Hello Aravind,

Our team is looking into this now.

  • Hi Aravind,

We don't currently have an integrated Hall-effect based solution optimized for precision current sensing, but we do have a number of other options (flux-gate, current shunt monitors) that offer comparable accuracy. Implementation size and cost will depend on the architecture. So could you elaborate on the specific design requirements to help us narrow down the list of possible design options?

    - What is the current sense range (max/min values to measure)? Would the sensor input be an AC signal and if so, what is the input frequency?

    - What is the max output voltage of the current source being monitored?

    - Are there any other supply voltage, size or cost constraints?

  • Sorry for delay, please find attached my reply, kindly help with suitable part.

    1. The max current that can flow is 120 A, its not an AC they are doing a switching at high frequency 50 kHZ.
    2. Yeah the output voltage of the sensor should be 2.5 to 3.3 V Voltage range.
    3. The VCC supply of the sensor should be 5 V and they are looking a small in size also less cost than ACS770.
If integrated sensor means it will be good in board for space constraint, so please suggest some good equivalent, Thanks in advance.

  • Aravind,

We have a number of current sense amplifiers with low VOS_RTI (<150uV) that can be used with a 100uohm shunt resistor to sense approximately the same current range as the ACS770KCB-150B (i.e. +/-150A) with comparable accuracy. The solution would also be significantly cheaper. The only issue is that current sense amplifiers have a common-mode voltage limitation, whereas the ACS770 does not. Does the application have an isolation requirement? If isolation is not required and a current sense amplifier solution is acceptable then what is the maximum common-mode voltage that will be applied to the current-sense amplifier?
