DRV421: Current error characteristics

Hello team,

My customer is asking us to provide more detail current error characteristics than figure 67 plot with specific condition.
- Not DC but AC at 3KHz
- Up to 300A
- With higher x-axis resolution
Is it possible to perform it?

Thanks for using the forum.

The DRV421 can handle 3KHZ but you need to make sure the magnetic material can handle that frequency. Above approximately 1kHZ the transformer effect is what dominates the current on the compensation coil and less dependent on the flux-gate feedback.

Go upto 300A can be a challenge. You need to make sure the coil resistance does not increase too much. This is because the DRV421 IComp pins are limited to approximately 4.2V and 250mA with a 5V supply voltage. You can used the system parameter tool to verify this. DRV421 System Parameter Calculator

The error plots where generated with a specific core. You system will have different errors. You can see the contributions to the error due to the core in this document in Table 1. Designing with the DRV421: Closed Loop Current Sensor Specifications

Hi Javier,

Do you have any example of coil module which is close to the customer's requirements? The customer is looking for it but struggling.

There currently is not a design available that is off the shelf for purchase. This is something that would need to be designed.
