HDC1080: about DAP

Hi all,

Please let me know about DAP of HDC1080.
Our customer going to use the HDC1080 for new product.
They are concerned about malfunction caused by interference of noise.
They are trying to put a capacitor between DAP and GND.
This care is correct? or, Is Floating an absolute condition?

Hello,
the presence of the exposed pad in HDC1080 enables enhanced thermal and mechanical characteristics of the package. From the signal point of view, instead, the DAP is not connected to any signals. For this reason there is no advantage to connect the DAP pad to GND with a capacitor.

Hi,

The purpose of using this sensor is to predict condensation.
Developing equipment is high-current RF power supply.
I understood that unnecessary the capacitor on dap by your comment.

If this sensor received the magnetics noise pulse on floating DAP, would you assert that this sensor is not affected by noise?

Hi,

The DAP is not connected to any signal, so it can not be source of noise in the device. In any case, the TI's humidity sensors behave like any other standard electronic components: electromagnetic fields of extreme intensity could adversely affect the performance of the devices, while moderately intense magnetic fields do not affect their behavior.
