HDC2010: Sensor Location & Ventilation Hole Recommendation Request

Part Number: HDC2010

Hello,

Customer wants to use HDC2010 to sense the temperature and humidity of environment. Out side of system, not system inside.

End Equipment is LTE Module and board layout and case are as attached. PCB size is 4.5 x 6.

In attached picture, RED area is for Antenna so cannot locate HDC2010 and cannot make ventilation hole in the case, either.

To sense the temperature and humidity of outside of system, where is the best location of HDC2010 and how she can make ventilation hole. (Hole size and the counts of hole.)

If there is no space to locate it on PCB, how she can use HDC2010?

Could you recommend the location of HDC2010 and the ventilation hole spec?

Regards,

Nicky

  • Hello Nicky,

HDC2010 requires some thermal isolation from heat sources to operate properly since the relative humidity accuracy will depends on how accurate is the ambient temperature measured.
One option for your solution could be a small carrier board that will have the connection to the main board for I2C lines, power, GND and INT.
A small aperture on the case where the part will be placed is required for accurate ambient temp and humidity estimation.

Please use the link below to download the application note with key recommendations on this topics, thermal isolation, placement, ventilation, holes, etc.
