HDC1080: Chemicals vapors exposure

Part Number: HDC1080

Hi,

first page of "Humidity Sensor: Storage and Handling Guidelines" specify that chemical exposure must be avoided or minimized.

At the end of the list: "If it is necessary to expose the HDC to contaminates, concentration, concentration and exposure time
must be reduced as much as feasible."

I would like to know if there is a percentage of vapor air chemical that could be acceptable (not direct contact, only vapors).

Thanks,

Alessandro.

  • Hi Alessandro and welcome to the e2e forums!

As you have been reading in the Storage and Handling Guidelines, exposure to contaminates must be limited as any exposure may chemically change the polymer sensing structure.  There is no defined percentage as different vapors/pollutants will create different byproducts from the chemical interaction with the polymer, the rule of thumb is to ensure that the environment is safe and free of contaminates that may affect sensor performance.

    Best Regards,

    Matt
