HDC1080EVM: no driver installed

Part Number: HDC1080EVM

I have just ordered some HDC1080EVM boards for testing purpose. I installed the latest version of the GUI - Sensing Solutions EVM GUI Tool v1.9.4 (Rev. E). However, during installation no driver for the dongle was installed. After starting the GUI it states: "Not Connected" | "Ready". In the Windows Device Manager I can see "MSP430-USB Example", but it says no driver is installed.

I tried to uninstall-reinstall multiple times with administrator priviliges. No success.

I'm using Windows7 64bit.

I was searching through the whole web, but I did not found any driver for the dongle itself. Does anybody have a solution for this?

  • Hi user,

This is indeed a strange issue. For clarity can you provide a screen capture of the GUI while the EVM is connected to the system? Additionally, can you take a screen capture of device manager ports selection?

    Best Regards,
    Matt
  • Hi Matt,

    Thanks for your response.

Here you have the screenshots. The USB dongle is plugged in, tried in multiple USB ports. The red LED is lighted up on the EVM.

Also, I tried this on my colleague's PC, also win7 64 bit. He has the very same issue. What are we missing?

  • Update: I managed to solve the issue. Although I could not find the EVM driver itself on the web, it turned out that the installer copies it into the installation folder. Now I browsed for it manually, and the EVM works fine!
Based on the installation manual this driver installation process should be automatic, which unfortunately did not happen on multiple PCs.
