LDC1000EVM Not Connected - Attaches as a USB Input Device

After installing the "Texas Instruments LDC1000 EVM GUI" software on a Windows 7 machine, I plugged in the LDC1000EVM. The software does not connect to the LDC1000EVM. After searching the device manager, I found that the LDC1000EVM was connecting as a "USB Input Device". I tried to update the driver manually by right clicking the device and selecting "Properties>Driver>Update Driver". I browsed to the "C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments LDC1000 EVM GUI\driver" directory but after selecting "Next" Windows says the "USB Input Device" is the best driver. Is there something I'm missing here? What should I try next?

Downloading the firmware fixed the problem.

Hi Kevin,

I am working on the same LDC1000 evaluation module. In this thread, you said 'Downloading the firmware fixed the problem'. But I have a doubt here. When the EVM is not detected or connected to GUI, how can you download the FW? Is there any other procedure? Please let me know. I have the same issue.

Since the original post, I have gotten a new computer. I installed the GUI software on the new computer to see if I had the same problem. The EVM was recognized as a COM port as it should. Try uninstalling the GUI software and starting over. Make sure during the installation process you see that the EVM driver is properly installed (i.e. "Ready To Use"). After the installation is complete, plug the EVM into a USB port and see if it is recognized as a COM port (under Device Manager).
