Driver 'Texas Instruments (usbser) ports (02/11/2014 1.03)' for to use the LDC1000EVM GUI seems it don't recognize the LDC1000EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1000EVM

Dear Sirs,

I'm having problems using the LDC1000EVM GUI. I installed the software LDC1000EVM GUI in my notebook with windows 8.1 but I can't use the software because it seems it don't recognize the LDC1000EVM.
The driver 'Texas Instruments (usbser) ports (02/11/2014 1.03)' can't be installed and in the 'failure status' don't show any information about the problem. What can I do? Is there any other driver that I could install or any configuration I could set to override this problem?

Thank you very much for your atention.

Sincerelly,

  • Hello Tamiris,

    I apologize for inconvinience. Are you getting any errors at all? Can you launch the GUI itself? Please, try reinstalling it.

    Best Regards,

  • Hello Natallia,

    I have the same Problem. I work with the Windows 8.1pro with german language.
    After installing the program the driver couldn't be installed.
    Then i tried installing the driver in the hardware manager;
    -> not possible;
    An error message popped up: "the installing files has been found but the evm.inf file of the third provider have no digital signature".
    Where can i download an USB-Driver for the LDC1000EVM and LDC13xx 16xx EVM?

    Best Regards,
    Gerald Schwarz
  • Hello Gerald,

    The problem occurs because Windows 8 allows the download of signed digital drivers. LDC13xx/16xx has an unsigned driver. Please, allow Windows 8 to download unsigned drivers and the GUI should work.

  • Hello Natallia,

    thank you for your reply.

    At this time i want to work with the LDC1000EVM.

    Do you mean the COM Port, RS232, or a virtual COM Port converting to an USB-Port?
    How can i select a correct COM-Port in windows 8.1?
    The setup program does not show checkboxes for selecting something.
    "LDC1000_EVM_GUI_1_0_4_1_Setup.exe"

    I think, the point is lying on the setup program with old drivers and the windows 8.1.
    But i need this software tool because today i bought the USB-stick.
    There was neither a cd-rom in the box nor a information about it.
    Then i followed what the quick start guide shows.
    www.ti.com/.../ldc1000evm
    ( -> Software, 2013; Windows 8.1 -> 2014)

    Now, the last i tried installing the drivers in legacy mode. No, it doesn't work.
    The setup program in windows needs a digital signature for the evm.inf file what i found in the driver folder.

    Where can i get a recent evm.inf file or recent USB driver setup file?

    Best Regards

  • Gerald,

    All you need to do is search through Windows 8 and allow the download of not signed drivers. The drivers for any LDC devices will be downloaded with GUI package.

  • Hello Natallia,

    I uninstalled and reinstalled the GUI for three times but the problem continues. My greatest urgency is the installation of the GUI on the desktop with windows Xp because it is this one that I use at work. I'll send to you pictures to show you what's happening. In the picture "gerenciadordedispositivo_EVM" is showing that the LDC1000EVM is recognized. And in the picture "LDCGUI_indutancia" is showing that the inductance is not being measured. So, the real problem is the inductance measurement by the GUI. Do you think it would have any software that I could install to correct this problem?

  • Hello Tamiris,

    Are you able to read the proximity data? If you could post the screen shots, that would be helpfu. Please use 'rich formatting' to do so.

  • Hello Natallia,

    sorry, yesterday i didn't tell that the Windows 8 Pro is a 64-Bit platform.
    On a 64-Bit system you cannot allow installing drivers without a digital signature.
    This is what microsoft says and that is what i mean.
    I need a evm.inf script with valid signatures.
    Other of them that is very insecure for the windows system.

    -> Support page from Microsoft:

    "Windows requires a digitally signed Driver.
    A driver that does not have a valid digital signature or has been modified after being signed, 64-bit versions of Windows can not be installed. This message only appears when you try to install such a driver on a 64-bit version of Windows."

    --

    If there is a valid script file, you can send me the file please also by email. My email address is registered in myTi.

    I need this EVM module because I have to make hardware development with capacitive and inductive sensors.
    That's why I chose the LDC1000EVM. The controller fits into our concept for our final product.

    For the operating system although I am the administrator, but I do not write additional scripts, so that a driver can be installed.
    The updated version of the driver should already be included with the GUI that not only XP or Win7 but that even Windows 8.1 64-bit systems can simply plug-and-play work.
    The GUI is installed and is operating stand-allone with beautiful pictures, but unfortunately without Hardware.

    Best Regards

  • Gerald,

    Please conctact Microsoft on 'how to allow the download of unsigned drivers'. They should be able to help, or you could search it online.

  • Hello All,

    If I can google 'How to allow Windows 8 to install unsigned digital drivers' several links show how:

    revryl.com/.../install-unsigned-drivers

    www.howtogeek.com/.../how-to-disable-driver-signature-verification-on-64-bit-windows-8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers

    This should fix the issues.
