Hello,

Can you please help me with my research, i am trying to develop electro-magnetic sensor for vehicle presence detection.

I am familiar with Inductive Loop sensor, but i need some better solution - smaller and easyer for installation.

Already done that but cant find what i need, i think i need electro magnetic sensor but cant find it in sensors

Hello Mladen,

LDC technology can indeed do vehicle detection, but with the constraints that are identified in the FAQ and Blog posts. Are the constraints (such as target distance/sensor size) not workable in your system? If so, what is the desired performance?

Inductive loops are very large, need solution for smaller scale sensor.

Main goal is to detect vehicle pressence or not on parking lot.

Hi Mladen,
yes, the sensor would have to be quite large for vehicle presence detection because the maximum detection range scales with sensor diameter. For example, if you expect the bottom of an SUV to be 40cm away from the coil, then the coil diameter would have to be in the order of 20-40cm (see e2e.ti.com/.../inductive-sensing-how-far-can-i-sense).
